For the past twenty years the world has been producing Super Rich individuals. But let’s step back and examine why this

“richness” has not trickled down to the larger population. Is this wealth based on production? Production of what? We have seen a multitude

of production of paper. Yes my friends, paper wealth. Financial services have produced a substantial part of this wealth. New devices

affectionately called “derivatives” have been produced and sold all over the world. Was it sustainable? Remenber paper burns easily. Would you live in a house made of paper? No wonder the whole thing is crumbling. In my opinion real production entail industrial, technological and knowledge based innovations which will redound to the benefit of all of us. Does a fancy financial instrument do that? Only if it will help to make financing of an innovative idea easier.

Think on these things and give me your comments and perspective.

Steps

Know the accounting equation. Assets = Liabilities + owner’s equity
Understand T- accounts and the purpose of credits and debits. All debits and credits must be equal at the end and different type of accounts have different normal balance sides (side where balance increases).
Know the purpose of different types of accounting documents and papers such as the general ledger, general journal, cash payments journal, sales journal, etc.
Learn by doing problems and try to take a class if possible.
